Welcome to Lakay Express! 

 

Lakay (pronounced ‘la-kai’) means Home in Haitian Creole.

 

Wondering who’s behind Lakay Express, let me introduce myself. 

 

My name is Corinne, originally from Haïti 🇭🇹 and currently living in Canada 🇨🇦. I’m the primary foodie, self-taught chef, content creator, entrepreneur behind Lakay Express.

 

We are a local Montreal-based Black-owned business that focuses on serving the tastiest Haitian patties to our customers. Our vision is to generate awareness and ignite a sense of pride and passion for Haitian food and culture.

 

Growing up I always had a passion for food. I was born and raise in Haïti which is where I got to experience a lot of the cooking and the diversity of the Haitian Cuisine. At an early age I would always be in the kitchen looking at how they would cook food for us. My grandmother was my inspiration and I would say that she influenced the way I cook. She would coordinate with the cooks and oversee the preparation of the meals. 

 

What I love the most with cooking, is the satisfaction that it provides me when everyone is happy once they finish their meals, I love cooking for my family and friends and I’ve always wanted to extend my love for food to my community.

 

My goal is to make Haitian patties differently and I'm still on the mission to do so. What started as a hobby in 2018 quickly turned into paying customers in 2019. Slowly and steadily, the business has been growing day by day, and we can’t wait for our story to unfold.

 

 In January 2019, we served our first patty to our first paying customer.

 

• Since then we’ve sold approximately 2,000 patties and we’re on a mission to do more.

• Co-Hosted events were we provided approximately 300 patties per event, looking forward to the next event.
